Who It’s For

Therapy is for Children who are struggling with:

  • Engagement with peers

  • Transitions

  • Self-care and daily routines

  • Body awareness

  • Self-regulation

  • Behaviors and attention in school

Model Of Therapy

  • Relationship-based: I value building a relationship with you and your child and working together as a team.

  • Play-based: Therapy should be fun!!! It’s important to meet each child where they are at and find that just right challenge to create “magic” moments.

  • Strength-based: My goal is to help you embrace the unique strengths of your child and help them integrate those strengths at home, in school, or out in the community.

  • Sensory-based: Identifying and understanding a child’s sensory profile and then utilizing sensory strategies to support regulation is part of therapy.

  • Individualized: Every child is different, therefore, they have their own unique therapy plan.

Virtual Parent Meeting

Services

  • New Client Consultation: The initial consultation is meant to help you and your child decide if I am the right fit for you. We will be able to discuss whether occupational therapy will support you in meeting your goals. I can also answer questions about the process, my therapy model, and discuss the fees and policies. (Free: 15 min.)

  • Evaluation: In an evaluation I will get to know you and your child through a combination of background paperwork, observation, and some standardized testing.

  • Parent Meeting: The parent meeting is a discussion of the results of the evaluation. We will also identify functional goals, and discuss a plan for therapy.

  • Occupational Therapy: This is where the individualized plan comes in to play. Therapy can be in-person sessions with the child, virtual parent meetings, or some combination of both.

*In-person sessions with the child would be at home, in school, or at a park. The focus would be on regulation and strategies to meet individual goals.
*Ongoing virtual parent meetings to discuss your child’s individual sensory profile and strategies for at home and school.

Pediatric Occupational Therapist

I obtained my master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Loma Linda University in 2010. Since then, I’ve practiced as a licensed occupational therapist in several pediatric settings including public schools and pediatric clinics. I have worked 10 years at Sensory KIDS/Bright Spot which primarily focuses on children with sensory processing challenges.During that time I have had extensive training and mentorship that has allowed me to specialize in supporting families in understanding their sensory child. My training and experience have allowed me to provide therapy and support for kids at home and in school. I have received training in the Level 1 and 2 Intensive Mentorship programs at the STAR Center. I have also completed courses in DIR/Floortime, SOS protocol for feeding therapy, Handwriting Without Tears, and Kelly Mahler's Interoception.I enjoy developing relationships with kids and their families. I am passionate about kids participating in an intensive model of therapy and parents receiving as much parent education as possible. I strive to create strategies and therapeutic tools that families can take home to help their kids live more functional and happier lives. When not working with other families, I get to explore life with my husband and three amazing kids. I enjoy spending time with friends, rock climbing, paddle boarding, reading, and traveling.
